Calendarr - Moon Phases
Overview
Calendarr is an online calendar created in 2011, offering detailed information on holidays, celebrations, and important dates in the United States. It provides not only a comprehensive calendar but also insightful content on the origins and history of significant events. With a mission to deliver reliable and curated information, Calendarr continues to support users with free, valuable content that enhances their understanding of important dates.
Problems and Goals
We identified several areas for improvement in the Moon Phases section, where the "Tonight’s Moon Phase" link was not easily visible, and 70% of traffic came from mobile devices, which had poor UX. The pages were also lengthy with large text blocks. enhance the visual representation of moon phases, all while keeping the visual language consistent.
01. Update the layout without changing too much from the previous design
02. Make it easier for users to find moon-related content
03. Design new icons and assets to illustrate moon phases
My Role and Process
I worked closely with the product manager and the editorial team of Calendarr. My role involved benchmarking competitors and designing low to high-fidelity prototypes to validate usability and UX. I handled the handoff documentation and collaborated with the tech team during implementation and launch to ensure everything went smoothly.
Outcomes
The new layout launched in July 2024, and so far the results are:
18% More organic traffic in moon related content.
